Not so great news

Well this week Christina has had a bit of a hick-up with the pregnancy. She is having episodes of tachycardia. That is when her heart starts racing and she can't catch her breath. We went to the doctor and he said that she needs to see a cardiologist. The baby seems to be fine and doing well but Christina is having a bit of a hard time. So, now I have to ride her to rest more and try not to do as much. Anyone that knows Christina, knows that she will not slow down for nothing. She is having to learn that she can't do it all. She has to ask for help which is hard for her to do. We will let everyone know what's going on as soon as we know more but just keep Christina in your prayers.

BOY OR GIRL

The date is set!! We will find out if we are having a boy or a girl on Thursday, January 3. We then plan to start registering for things. This also means that I will have a new project. It will be putting the nursery together. I have already put my foot down and said that if we are having a girl that I am not painting pink. I said that it will be purple. If it is a boy then I am going to try and talk Christina into Indians colors. Well when we find out we will be sure to post it so that everyone knows as soon as we do.

Doctors Visit #3

We visited the baby doctor yesterday. It was another in and out visit. They listened to the baby's heart beat measured how much Christina has grown and we were on our way. Everything is progressing as normal. Christina is not feeling great. She is pretty swollen and feels her muscles separating in her belly. The tiredness has yet to subside but everyone that we talk to says that it will in a few weeks. Our newest battle is who is taking up more room on the bed. She always falls asleep first so I know that its not me. She is also being a touch-me-not. She fells uncomfortable so she is having a hard time being touched in any way. I like to rub her arm or back to help me fall asleep but that has been stopped. Well its about time for a picture update so I will work on getting one up soon.

Maybe a flutter

Today may have been the first time that Christina felt the peanut move. She said she doesn't know if thats what it was or if it was just a muscle twitch or maybe a gas bubble. I have no idea but hey it could be the kid!! She felt like it was a little butterfly in her belly. It was a little flutter while she was driving to work. I think that its pretty cool.

Thanksgiving

Well we are at the start of the holiday season and the traveling has begun. Peanut was able to eat three Thanksgiving dinners. The first was at Christina's dads house last Sunday. Everything went very well and dinner was good. We were able to spend time with her side of the family and that is always nice. The second dinner was at the Holder household. Mom had to work so it was up to the rest of us to cook. So, this year we decided we were going to make two turkeys. We made one in the oven and deep fried the other and both turned out well. The final dinner was this Friday at Christina's sister, Sabrina house. I, unfortunately was not able to attend do to the fact that it was 'black Friday' and I had to work.

Everyone seems to be excited about the baby. I know we are. We are looking forward to when we will be able to find out what is going to be. Everyone keeps asking what it is going to be and I don't think that January can come fast enough. Christina is in her second trimester, it will be 14 weeks on Tuesday. The tiredness has yet to subside but we hope that it will soon. But, other than that all is well!!

Dr. Appointment # 2

We went for our 12 week check up yesterday. We saw a new doctor this time so that we meet them all before birthday. The doctor we saw this time was Dr. Beatty. The appointment lasted about 3 minutes. The cool thing about it was we were able to here the heart beat of the baby. She used a microphone that picked up the heart beat of the baby, and you could also here Christina's heart beat. Christina has not gained much weight yet, only 2 pounds so far. She feels a little uncomfortable but other than that things are getting better.

12 Week Picture

Just so that everyone knows that I am going to get shot for publishing this picture, I finally have our first picture of Christina pregnant. She feels like she is a FAT COW but I tell her that she is just pregnant. We will try to take a picture every few weeks to keep everyone up on how things are going (Otherwise known as "HOW FAT I GET!!").

I also would like to say that I have purchased a 1500 sq. foot refrigerator!!! Otherwise known as our house. The night time temperature has been in the 30's this week and I'm not allowed to turn on the heat. I have to sleep under 1 fleece blanket and 2 down comforters. While Christina is yelling at me that its hot. I guess when you "get fat" you also get hot, for that I have to freeze. If we do turn the heat on we have to have a humidifier so that we have icicles hanging in the room in the morning. But, we all know that its all my fault anyways.

The next new thing for me is the fact that Christina has turned into a Blood Hound. Her sense of smell has become very keen. If I drink a beer she can smell me coming a mile away. And boy, don't I know it!!!! Also we have to have hanging things in toilets now. She can not stand the smell of urine. Especially mine. So now we have smelly things in the toilets!

Peanuts First Carolina Game

'Peanut' as Christina had named the baby went to its first Carolina game tonight!! We went to the exhibition game against Lenoir Rhine. Carolina looked a little sloppy but the outcome was pretty good. It is about the time in the baby's growth that its ears are starting to form so I gave Christina a hard time that the first thing that the baby was hearing was the Carolina fight song. Since she is a Duke fan she was not real happy with me.

It was good for us to get out. We were able to hang out with Chad, who is always a great time, Jason, and Melinda. It was good to hang out with them since they are due in December. Christina and Melinda were able to talk about baby things.

Christina is starting to feel better with the pregnancy. The nausea is just about gone but she is still very tired all the time. Sleep is her best friend. Things are good. We have started to pick out names, and no its not going to be Richard... For those who missed it that would be Dick Holder!!! For a girl Christina likes Elizabeth Grace (Grandmother and Great grandmothers names) and for a boy I like Mitchel Everett or vice versa. But, since we don't know what it is, the name is Peanut.

TIRED!!!

Tired is the name of the game. Christina has started to feel better this week with the nausea but is still tired all the time. We are at about 9 weeks and 1 day. I am still trying to get a picture of her progress up but its just not in the cards right now, she is just to tired. Other than that everything is going well.

I have been labeled the water Nazi this week. When we went to the doctor they told us that she needs to be drinking about a gallon of water a day. I have just been the one that has to remind Christina that she needs to be drinking more. Thus this weeks label. (She doesn't like water otherwise it wouldn't be that bad.)

Ultrasound Pictures

Here are the pictures of our last Ultrasound. It is a little bit hard to see but the black area is the amniotic sack. At the top of that sack is the babys head and the spine goes down to the left.

We met the Doctors

Wednesday, Christina and I went to the baby doctor we had to fill out all of the necessary paper work and meet with the doctors. We also had our second ultra sound. We were able to see the baby's head and the heart beat. We were also able to hear the heart beat for the first time. Christina and I were very excited.

We both felt very comfortable with the doctors and nurses. I told the nurse that my name was "It all your fault" this week because when Christina is not feeling well it is "all my fault". Dr. Alverez was the doctor that we met this visit and when we went into his office he had his diplomas on the wall. We both noticed that he went to med school at Ohio State and then he specialized at Duke. We felt like that was pretty cool!!

The doctor put Christina at 8 weeks and 1 day, this puts our due date May 26th. I will try to post the ultrasound pictures and a week by week update of Christina.
